Church of San Salvatore extra moenia or Badia Grande

Built in 1176, the Church of San Salvatore extra moenia, also called Badia Grande, was renewed in the 17th century. The sacred building, which still retains its Romanesque appearance, features an elegant portal in Aluntino marble with twisted columns and putti, on which a statue of San Benedetto is placed. Inside the church you can admire the imposing Romanesque colonnade and devotional paintings dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Also noteworthy are the sumptuous stucco decorations depicting angels playing and playing, allegorical figures, cartouches and garlands of flowers. The altar is embellished with a wooden canopy placed on the tabernacle, the work of Don Corrado Oddo of 1704. Annexed to the Church, the Benedictine Sisters Monastery, recently renovated, which today houses the Congress and Events Palace named after Queen Margherita of Navarra, founder of the Monastery .
