Church of Sant'Anania - Alcara li Fusi

Just outside the inhabited center of Alcara, in the direction of the Hermitage, there is a small rural church dedicated to Saint Anania. According to hagiographic sources concerning San Nicolò Politi, on August 18, 1167, during the procession of the body of the Saint, during the procession towards the country, precisely in that place, the body became so heavy that it was no longer possible to go on. It was then that a miracle happened: a little girl, born just the day before, spoke and said clearly that the Sacred body was to be brought not to the inhabited center, but to the Monastery of Santa Maria del Rogato, beyond the Rosemary stream. Since then, the Church of Sant'Anania, built in the place of the miracle, has been the site of the Saint's stop which is brought back in procession to the Hermitage every year on the morning of August 18. Architecturally, the building is very simple and is characterized by being opened by an arch.
