Votive shrine of the fruit miracle - Alcara li Fusi

In the open countryside, near the town of Pietra Sparata, there is an ancient votive shrine that testifies to an event in the life of San Nicolò Politi, the Miracle of fruit. It is said that in that place, on his last trip to the Rogato Monastery, the Saint, tired and tired from the long journey, met two women who returned home to the village with two baskets full of fruit. Then San Nicolò asked them, by the grace of God, to have some fruit, so as to refresh themselves. One of the two women, not knowing the man, refused and continued on her way disdained for the request, the other, however, despite being in the same condition as her mistress, was charitable and kind and handed her basket to the Saint. Once back home, the two realized that in the basket of the gentle woman the fruits grew and multiplied, while in the basket of the gruff woman the fruits rotted and poisonous snakes sprang.
