Church of SS. Annunziata - Alcara li Fusi

The Church dedicated to the SS. Annunziata, rises inside the Motta district, the first urban agglomeration built at the foot of Castel Turio. It is probably one of the oldest religious buildings in Alcara. According to local historians, this was the main church, Templum Magnum, before the construction of the Mother Church. Despite the ancient origins, the structure that we can admire today dates back to the 16th century. Externally the Church, with a single nave, welcomes the visitor with the splendid portal in local limestone. The interior, with a single nave, houses works of great value such as the sixteenth-century sculptural group in wood and telacolla depicting the Annunciation and the Archangel Gabriel inserted in a splendid wooden fercolo always from the 16th century and the large altarpiece depicting the same subject, work by Giuseppe Tomasi from Tortorici of 1653.
