Church of the Madonna del Rosario - Mirto

Of the existence of the Church of Maria SS. of the Rosary, once annexed to a Dominican convent, we have news since before the 16th century. It therefore represents, despite the changes it has undergone over time, one of the oldest religious buildings in Mirto. Originally, the church was named after the martyr San Sebastiano but, after the victory of Christianity in the battle of Lepanto, it assumed its current name. The building, located along Via Umberto I, is characterized externally by the spire bell tower and the simple eighteenth-century portal. The interior, with a single nave decorated in neoclassical style, preserves various sculptures from different eras, including the statue of the Madonna of the Rosary placed on the main altar. Interesting is the canvas attributable to the sec. XVIII and XIX depicting Saint Sebastian.
