Medieval castle of Longi

Longi Castle, built in the XII century, does not present particular architectural styles, but some elements highlight the Norman origin. Probably at the beginning of its existence it did not fulfill a defensive function, but over time it underwent fortification works and made it self-sufficient (with cistern, warehouses, rooms and kitchens) to resist the sieges. On the entrance portal you can see the stone coat of arms of the Lancia family, while the internal courtyard joins the oldest part of the structure with the one that underwent improvements between the 18th and 19th century linked to the construction of the upper floor until death Duchess Zumbo, widow of Duke D'Ossada, Vincenzo Loffredo. You can visit some rooms that have a remarkable historical-artistic relevance, with valuable architectural styles and with paintings and frescoes of the '700.
