Church of San Pietro - Torrenova

The modern church of San Pietro, built in the second half of the 20th century in a neo-Romanesque style, is the largest religious building in Torrenova. The plant has three naves with an apse and bell tower. The salient facade is characterized by the presence of a portico surmounted by the statues of SS. Pietro e Paolo and the inscription UBI PETRUS IBI ECCLESIA. The interior of the church is strongly characterized by the massive presence of mosaics that enrich the lateral naves with an iconographic character. The large mosaic panels represent various scenes and characters such as the apparitions of Fatima and Lourdes, the miracles of St. Pio, the diocesan saints and scenes taken from the gospels. Very important is also the presence of beautiful stained glass windows with biblical scenes that embellish the side windows and the central window of the apse.
