Church of Santa Maria degli agonizzanti

Built in 1681, the church of the Agonizzanti is the only example of Baroque in Patti. The congregation that ran it had the mission of praying for the sick, entrusting their souls and God and celebrating masses in suffrage after death. Decorated in eighteenth-century stuccos of the Serpottian school, the Church was closed in 1950 and the works of art it kept transferred to the Cathedral or the Diocesan Museum. It was reopened for worship in 1997.
