Roman villa

The Roman villa in Patti Marina was discovered in 1973 during the construction of a viaduct on the Messina Palermo highway. Extended for about 20 thousand square meters, the villa dates back to the fourth century after Christ, to the late Roman imperial age. The most representative rooms are characterized by the presence of polychrome mosaics depicting animals with floral decorations and geometric figures. The antiquarium attached to the villa displays artifacts recovered from excavations, such as amphorae, ceramics and coins, but also a capital and a male marble bust.
