The Prince's Palace

Also known as Palazzo De Spuches, the Palazzo del Principe was built in the second half of the 16th century under the Lanza dynasty. The coat of arms of the Amato family, the first to live in the sumptuous building, stands on the main portal built in pietra serena. The internal portals of the palace are rich in ornaments and bas-relief figures. The Palace houses numerous rooms, including the large hall in which Barons and Princes, in addition to holding the parties, met nobles and dignitaries and appointed magistrates. It is said that the Prince, when he could not go to church, followed the religious services directly from the balcony of the building overlooking the churchyard of the Mother Church. Palazzo De Spuches is now used as a multipurpose museum center of the Fitalia Valley.
