Museum of the ancient tools of the peasant civilization

The birth of the Museum is intertwined with the history of the Liberal Mutual Aid Society which, born on 14 July 1892 by public deed and by the will of two hundred and twenty-eight members, managed to build a house on three levels in Galati Mamertino, in via Toselli. Later he bought and put into operation a poor gas mill, but this initiative aroused the jealousy of the owners of Galati who, taking advantage of the uprisings of 1929, dissolved the Company by the fascist regime, obtaining the confiscation of the house and the sale to the public auction of the mill and furniture. On October 13, 1946, the Company was reconstituted and later returned to the availability of the property, restored over time with the contribution and savings of the shareholders. Today the ground floor of the house, following an agreement with the Municipality of Galati Mamertino, is home to the Museum of Ancient Tools of the Peasant Civilization, attesting to the strong link with a past that is also nourished by traditional singers, custodians of the different ways of singing.
