Museum of Byzantine and Norman Culture and Figurative Arts

Established in 1997, the Byzantine and Norman Museum of Culture and Figurative Arts is housed in the former Benedictine Monastery, built in the 16th century on a church of the Byzantine-Norman age. Inside, there are three sections: archaeological, documentary and Byzantine-Norman figurative arts. The Municipality of San Marco d’Alunzio, which strongly believes in the historical and cultural enhancement of the territory, intends to transform the Museum from a simple exhibition place to a meeting and dialogue space dedicated to memory and cultural transmission. Know and value the beauty of the ancient dominations to create a solid link between history and modernity, a dialogue between past and present that lives and renews itself.
