Porta Sant'Antonio

In medieval times, San Marco d'Alunzio was conceived as a fortress and surrounded by walls with four access gates, Porta Sant'Antonio, consisting of a round arch with lateral ashlars in red San Marco marble, represents the only preserved. According to what reported by the Superintendence for Cultural and Environmental Heritage of Messina, Porta Sant'Antonio incorporated one of the oldest gates of the Greek age, part of the fortification walls in an isodom structure erected in the 4th century BC.
