Church of S. Pantaleone Martire - Alcara li Fusi

The Church of San Pantaleone is of medieval origins, although today's appearance is seventeenth-century. The exterior welcomes the visitor with the façade enriched by an eighteenth-century local limestone portal, the Tiburio with domed roof and the soaring bell tower. The interior, completely remodeled in the eighteenth century, houses various artistic artefacts, first of all, the splendid seventeenth-century organ, among the oldest in Sicily. The high altar is adorned with a large altarpiece painted by Damiano Basile in 1599 which depicts, in the lunette above, God the blessing Father, in the main canvas, the Madonna surrounded by music angels and under the Saints Pantaleone, Lucia, Stefano (or Lorenzo), San Leone Magno, Sant'Antonio Abate and Sant'Agata. There are also pictorial works by Giuseppe Tomasi, Filippo Tancredi and Pietro Castelnovo. The Chapel of the Crucifix is also interesting.
